SOAR’s Employment Team provides 1-2-1 support with getting back into employment, sourcing training and creating a plan to suit you. Working with a range of people, from young job seekers just out of education to those who have been out of work for a while, we continue to lead, support and empower individuals to value their transferable skills and recognise their capabilities. Glenn came to SOAR referred by his Job Centre Work Coach for assistance with job searching, he struggled with motivation and it was identified that he lacked digital skills.
We have worked with Glenn by gradually building his confidence through consistent one-to-one appointments and helping him create and access his CV. It was clear Glenn really did want to learn, but was struggling to do so.
Glenn was referred to the digital skills course run by FACES, he was sceptical at first but quickly changed his mind after attending the first session. This has boosted his confidence immensely and he has plans to progress onto the next level, an accredited digital skills course, hoping eventually to be able to work in retail or volunteer in his local library.
Through his interactions with SOAR, he was also convinced to go to the doctor, who diagnosed him with vitamin B12 deficiency. He is now receiving treatment for this and feels a lot more energized and motivated to get into work.
Glenn is still working with us and his confidence is improving session by session, which is lovely to see, especially after we referred him to The Suit Works.
