SOAR’s Employment Team provides 1-2-1 support with getting back into employment, sourcing training and creating a plan to suit you. Working with a range of people, we continue to lead, support and empower individuals to value their transferable skills and recognise their capabilities. Read on to hear Henrietta's story:
Henrietta self-referred to SOAR in April 2023, as she was unemployed after being laid off work by an agency she had been working for, in a warehouse.
She had only been able to find agency work since coming to the UK in 2020, so we encouraged her to aim for more permanent work, which although it can take longer, as a Lone Parent it would provide more long-term stability and much more financial stability. With this in mind, we set out an action plan, as well as reassuring Henrietta that her transferable skills would add significant value to other roles and sectors. Through this process, we discovered she would prefer Health & Social Care work, so we prioritised looking at Care roles.
Annie, our Employment Coach, and Henrietta met up 22 times, and worked together on CVs, cover letters, job searching, online applications, tailored suitability statements, and interview practices to help build confidence.
In September 2023, she was successful at interview for a care role!
