Our Wellbeing Coaches can offer local people support with a whole range of health and wellbeing needs, from managing long-term conditions to wanting to be healthier overall. Read on to hear how Jane came along to our groups and built her confidence, with the support of our Janine:
Jane has a long-term health condition. She had done her research in to the condition, and decided that being active would improve her health, both in managing her condition and overall. Jane saw SOAR's poster up at her GP surgery and decide to come along after a phone call to Janine to see what was suitable for her.
Jane came along to our Time for a Change group and built her confidence through both the exercise on offer at that group and the information we give out about what else they can do, such as other community classes and the Move More scheme. Jane also took part in a demonstration for a new platform that will make it easier for people to find activities and groups in the community. Jane chose to graduate from Time for a Change over the summer, and went to try out the Fitness for All classes at Longley 4 Greens Community Centre.

Jane started by attending Monday’s Chairobics class and has now added in Wednesday’s Legs, Bums and Tums class too. Jane feels she is managing her condition much better and benefitting from building muscle and bone strength also. The social element is also beneficial for her mental wellbeing. At home she also now walks on a regular basis, which is a really positive change.
Jane is feeling more confident and happy with how she is managing her condition now, and with her improved health overall. Jane is hoping she can keep up these healthy habits long-term!
"Thank you for helping me find just what I needed. I now go home and continue my exercise with something like a walk, instead of sitting in my chair."
