Employment Coach Case Study

SOAR’s Employment Coaches offer information & guidance to local people looking to get into employment, training or volunteering. They'll help you build the tools for self-confidence, self-esteem, goal setting and more. Read on to hear Helen's story:

ree

Helen registered for employment support with SOAR back in February 2024 when her former employer changed management, resulting in a reduction of work shifts. Now, 15 months later, she has successfully secured a Patient Services role with the NHS and officially started on the 9th July!

Helen's journey has had its ups and downs as she worked to settle in the UK while raising her family. With our ongoing employability support, she has received assistance with her CV, job searching, skill development, and particularly in improving her interview skills.

She has faced a few setbacks with employers; however, she persevered in her efforts to find work, even spending £30 on a taxi to attend a cleaning interview in S17. During times of discouragement, we have continued to support and motivate her. We have also coached and helped her prepare for her first-ever online interview for a School Catering Assistant position.

We were delighted to learn that she was successful during the NHS fast-track widening access programme, which clearly illustrates how collaborating in partnerships with employers to break down barriers makes recruitment a more inclusive, accessible, and straightforward process.

"I want to say thank you for everything you have done for me, thank you so much, I'm grateful for your help, I appreciate your efforts, I can't thank you enough."
