Here at SOAR, we are constantly evolving and changing in the pursuit of excellence. To help achieve this, our recruitment processes are about getting the right people, to fit the right posts. Here is an introduction to the latest members of our team:
David Beck - Employment Coach
I have recently started with SOAR as an Employment Coach. I will be working with members of the local community to enable them to overcome their barriers to sustainable employment.
This is a challenging but highly rewarding role! I feel huge satisfaction in knowing that I’m helping to empower people and assist in their personal journeys. Prior to this role I have worked in the recruitment industry and also academic coaching in management and leadership.
Outside of work, I focus most of my time on my 7-year-old daughter, but also enjoy socialising and spending time with friends.
Akinseye Oke - Centre Development Coordinator
As a Centre Development Coordinator, my role focuses on engaging with the community and developing innovative systems and structures for the facilities I oversee. I’m excited to create impactful systems that strengthen our services and contribute meaningfully to the communities we serve.
I’m truly inspired by the warm, receptive culture at SOAR. It’s a place that fosters both personal and professional growth, offering a supportive environment where I can bring out my best. I’m looking forward to contributing to the organisation’s mission and growing alongside a team that values development and innovation.
Outside of work, I’m a creator at heart. I love crafting visual experiences, from photography and videography to organizing unique events. I enjoy using my skills to bring creative ideas to life, whether it’s through artistic projects or curating memorable experiences for others. Check out my work: https://behance.net/akinseye
Laura Snape - Welfare Coach (Families & Parenting)
My new role is working as a Family Welfare Coach supporting families who have a range of complex needs, to help improve their health, social and emotional wellbeing.
I’m really excited about having the opportunity to support families and develop strong relationships within the community.
Outside of work I enjoy walking my dog in the countryside, going swimming and travelling.
Helen Taylor - Wellbeing Coach (Green Prescribing)
My new role is Wellbeing Coach with a focus on green prescribing, which means I help people connect to the natural world in a variety of ways, to improve their mental health and physical wellbeing.
I’m looking forward to getting people outdoors and helping them to develop a passion for nature.
I’m a huge supporter of the natural world and love doing what I can to help it, including in my own wildlife jungle of a garden. I love walking and dancing of any kind. Nature and dancing are my therapy.
Annie Vohra - Community Development Worker
In my new role I’ll be responsible for ensuring that volunteer vacancies are kept up to date and advertised and will act as the first point of contact for potential volunteers, helping them find a role that is suitable for them. I’ll also be working to help St Saviour's food bank in High Green transition into a social supermarket that seeks to further benefit and empower the local community.
I’m really excited to be working at SOAR and learning about all the different partners we work with. I’m looking forward to meeting lots of new people, getting a well-rounded view of all the fantastic things happening in the north of Sheffield and helping people reach their full potential. Working as a Community Development Worker is new to me but I will strive to apply all the skills I have gained from volunteering in various community projects around Sheffield and working in the food industry.
Outside of work I am a musician and enjoy playing local gigs and am hoping to record some music very soon. I also enjoy cycling in the Peak District and screen printing with homemade natural dyes.
